Bahama style shutters, hung from the top of the window,
add a distinctive Caribbean feel to any
structure. They may also be used to replace awnings and
in applications where there is insufficient spacing between
windows for traditional shutters to be hung. Exterior
Bahama shutters are crafted from naturally decay resistant
Western Red Cedar. The 1-3/8” thick Bahama true
louver shutter design features flush stile and rail construction,
giving this shutter a distinctive appearance.
Semi transparent and solid color stains are an excellent
finish. When painted, a good quality, fast drying, oil
based primer should be used. Left unfinished cedar will
silver and remain maintenance free.
Shutters up to 32” in width may be manufactured
without the use of a center sub-stile. Above 32”
a sub-stile is recommended to help protect against warping
of the louvers. Bahama mounting hardware, including hinges
and telescoping push rods are available from our extensive
hardware collection.
